NEMA Healthcare Facilities Standards & Codes Review Committee Calls for Participant

by Marc Neufcourt, Industry Director, Building Systems

The NEMA Healthcare Facilities Council has established a Healthcare Standards & Codes Review Committee (HSCRC) to monitor and participate in U.S. healthcare Standards and codes activities impacting  NEMA Members. Relevant Standards and codes include, but are not limited to: NFPA 101, Life Safety Code; NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code; NFPA 70, National Electrical Code®; and Facilities Guidelines Institute (FGI) Guidelines for Design and Construction.

These Standards and codes provide both a blueprint and a roadmap for how healthcare facilities are and will be designed and built over the next decade. They prescribe minimum and recommended safety and performance Standards that allow healthcare facilities to be designed and operated safely and efficiently. By actively monitoring and participating in these technical activities, the Healthcare Facilities Council will promote the safe and efficient use of Council Members’ products and systems while simultaneously improving healthcare delivery environments.

“As we continue to build and expand the reach of the NEMA Healthcare Facilities Council (HFC), we felt it was important to provide NEMA and MITA Members with a forum to discuss important Standards and codes activities that affect specifically their healthcare segment,” said Andrew Kriegman, Corporate Executive Vice President of Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc. and Chair of the NEMA Healthcare Facilities Council. “These Standards and codes often drive how our products are designed, marketed, installed, and used in healthcare facilities. It is important that knowledgeable Members join the Council and its newly created HSCRC to help enhance these standards and codes while strengthening our industry’s positions.”
